Hey guys, i have a problem. I was pressing in the udrives with my press when all of a sudden the press slipped and hit the receiver. Now my receiver is slightly warped and is noticable. My question is have any of you done the same thing and if so, how did you straighen the reciever back out. It is a DCI akm receiver. Shawn |

If the press slipped, how did it move that much to "hit" the receiver? Don't the hydrolic ram move real slow? Anyways, I've been useing an air hammer on rivets all day and yea, I slipped and hit the receiver pretty good (air hammer got a mind of it's own! I was holding the receiver on the anvil with 1 hand and air hammering with the other) I just used a cresent wrench, a vise grip and a leatheman to bend it back on different occasions. You think it's screwed allready, what's to loose? |

I've had a couple warp on me for various reasons...usually on the center support rivet or after riveting the rear trunion. I wrenched, tweaked and pressed back to normal with no ill effects. Obviously this depends how bad it's tweaked...but I probably won't be a big deal. I freaked out the first time too, but it's just sheet metal, so it's fixable. Good luck, |
If it were mine I would try to straighten it and if that failed then I would buy a new receiver. But I wouldn't buy a new receiver until I tried straightening this one. I think a lot of us have had "tweaked" receivers that we have massaged back into shape. Good luck, and post pictures. |
