Are the POSP's POS's or rugged & inexpensive Russian scopes made for inexpensive and rugged AK's???

Yes they are about as good as the lower end Valdada's,

I have a 4-8X POSP, and I guess I would describe it as functional.  The alleged illuminated reticle just barely works--the ambient light must be nearly gone before you can tell it's on.  The offset from the weapon centerline and the tall mount is also hard to get used to, and it really looks like something from the movie "Borat".

A scope--especially one like I have is a waste of money on an AK (I have an Arsenal 106), in my view. It's still a 3-4 moa rifle.  Now, a red dot, low mounted on the weapon centerline would be another story.

Yea, I'm leaning toward a Burris Red dot.

Now, side mounted or on the handguard?

It's a Saiga rifle too.

I like the 4x ones well enough.  But I found a nice 4x illuminated Russian scope with a low over the centerline weaver mount is better for myself.  The scopes and mounts can be purchased separately at Kalinka Optics.

Just ordered the 4x AK version from Kalinka. I guess we'll see how it goes.
