What were the original specs and where would I find one or something close enough?
Thanks in advance. |
| As much as I want to keep the original leather sling, it is very stiff and really unuseable for real work. I am seriously looking to see about putting a cotton Garand sling on it and see how it goes, as i love the way they feel slung up, and how they work. That is what I would try, or one of the nylon AK slings. My problem with them, is they seem to slip more than the cotton Garand slings. |
| My PSL was (originally) made in 1980 and has the leather sling and it was in perfect condition. I rubbed it down with some leather conditioner and it looks & feels new. However, the blued-steel clip on the front of the sling was too brittle and it broke when I snapped it in place. I replaced it with a small steel "mini-carabineer" that I used muratic acid to strip off the zinc plating and re-touched it with cold blue. I think the carabineer is a better solution and it’s certainly stronger. |
