Ok guys have a bit of a problem with my new PSL.  I tried several different types of ammo, from Wolf 148 gr to Czech silertip to several other com bloc offereings, one thing I am noticing is that about one or two rounds out of a magazine I am getting a problem with extraction, or should I say problems?

1st, any and all ammo I am having this issue, the issue is that upon firing a round the round fails to clear the ejection port, it just hangs with the casing sticking out half way of the port.  hmmmm

2nd, running Cu washed ammo (I think Polish) I have experienced 2 occurences of the extractor ripping a portion of the rim off of the case and one instance of the primer coming out of the pocket leaving just the innards of the primer.  Very bizzare

For instance one could it be a situation of having the ejector too long?

For instance two am I looking at a headspace issue?

I do not have access to headspace gauges soooo...

Thanks for any and all comments.

Other than that the rifle shoots well

I don't have a link handy, but another PSL owner had many stove pipes upon ejection with his. The very large rounded edge at the front of the ejector needed to be made into a smaller curve. More like that on an AK.

Mine had four hard jams like that in 100 rounds last time out. Mine had the large curve in that ejector too. I used a stone on a dremel to shape it more like an AK one. Haven't been back to the range to test it though. Sorry.

The problem was the curve flipped the case sideways and jammed it. Shaping the front of the ejector blade flatter with just a bit of curve at the base of the blade like an AK's ejected it more cleanly with no flipping.

I don't have a link to that guy's page. Perhaps someone else here has saved it. It explained the problem and solution very well.

That was me with the "stovepipe from Hell" problem.  What was happening was that the large 54R rim was contacting the ejector "rail" before it reached the ejector "tip" and this flipped the case sideways inside the chamber area.  Not sure if this is what is causing your particular problem but you might want to make sure the ejector rail is not contacting the case head as it pulls the case back out of the chamber.  A file or dremel along the rail may solve that if that is what is happening.  Now in my case as mentioned above, the radius right directly in front of the ejector "tip" had to enlarged so the 54R rim would not contact that area before it contacted the tip.  A Gunsnet member who had the same problem found the cure.  I am just the one who had the most problems with it and have voiced the cure louder.

It almost sounds to me like you may have some sort of head space deal going on.  Or maybe even a rough chamber hanging on to the cases tighter during extraction.  Possible weak extractor spring letting the case go prematurely.  Gunk under the extractor?  Just some other things to check out as well.  Good luck.

Radiused the ejector,  checked for gunk under the extractor but am still seeing some FTE's, the cartridge ejects half way out as described in prior post.  Inspected the cartridge base and noticed on all cases a dimple on the base of the case close to the outside of the rim, every case has this also where there are instances of the rim ripping partially off it does this where the dimple is located, perhaps this is where the ejector rail is hitting. It is difficult to tell if the case is hitting the rail by manually cycling the action. Will try to provide pictures tonight.
