I am considering buying an Ak to put under my extra Eotech. I'd love to see some pics of Ak's with Eothingys or Aimpoints mounted. Thank you.

Keep your eotech on your AR type rifles...you need a Kobra collimator

Kobra for the 7.62 X 39.......  PK-AS-V for the 5.45 X 39.......  Almost like them better than my Colt M4 with Aimpoint rig......

If someone will let me email them pics and post them for me...... I can show my sluts off........

OK - here goes.... Thanks for the link.....

1st one is a Krebs AK74 with PK-AS-V sight - Russian Plum Furniture and Romy Folder - I know the folder is not authentic - but I love the stock's rigidness and the way it works for snapshots - works VERY well with the PK sight........

Next is a Chris Butler [AKUSA] AK103 with Kobra and Romy Folder........

Finally - my patrol car gun - Colt LE6920 with Aimpoint/ARD on KAC low mount, RAS II, VLTOR w/ Pad, ARMS #40L, SF 6 volt and Sling Systems Three Point.......

OK, I came here for an education.

Why is the Kobra collimator better than an EOTech or Aimpoint?

Thanks in advanced for your detailed, fact based answer.

Uhhhhh, Rambo......  I think he was just referencing the fact that EOTechs and Aimpoints are seen more frequently on AR's...... and Kobra's on AK's........   Easy there killer, easy...........

I've heard the PK-AS red dot/black dot are better and the red/ black dot is smaller, 1 MOA!

Probably not quite what you are looking for, but...

I'd love to mount a 3x24 compact ACOG on my Valmet.

Why put a $400 optic on a $500 gun?  Keep AK parts on AKs, and AR parts on ARs.

What I want to see is a full sized ACOG NSN on a WASR-10.

There are some really nice Russian red dots made for the optic rails of AKs, including those previously mentioned, and none of them go over the $250 mark.  The PK-AV is $140.  The Kobra is $190.

I guess this is a fact based answer?????

I'm not one to take a spoiler from a Ford focus and slap it on my Honda Civic. (US origin parts on a foreign car)

I won't do the same for my AK either, sure you can flame me and say that there are US parts on your AK.....there has to be(922r compliant-unless SBR'd), but they are US made parts such as Stocks, FCG, etc.

AK's are Russian in design...so is the Kobra....not the eotech. I go for historically correct. Not for what works best for you or me.

That is why I just ordered a POSP 4x24 scope instead of slapping my much better and already paid for Leupold on it.

P.S. Kalibr, hope that it is OKay that I ripped a few pics from your site....I figured you wouldnt mind the free advertising 5% off for team members!

Also, as far as mounts go-should you go with an acog/eotech/holosight(i have one) stay away from the ultimak mounts. I don't understand why someone would design a mount that would go on/near the hottest part of the rifle....can't be good for expensive optics in bump firing or sustained fire.

Have to agree with Msokokol - that dude with the russian sounding name....... on the Ultimak........ Owned one for all of three days - the Ultimak, Aimpoint mount and Aimpoint all got almost too hot to the touch from two mags of aimed [not bump] fire.  Mount was definitely not rigid - way too much play in it for my tastes..........  I dont like the way either an AK or an M4 balances with a scout setup like that either.......

You told me what I needed to know.  Good answer.  I also believe in keeping AR and AK accessories separate.   I just thought the implication was that the Kobra was a better scope and wanted to know in what way.

I've had some experience with EOTech, Aimpoint and ACOG but not the Kobra.  I am sincere when I said I'm here to learn.

You need to get those sights up front and out of the way! The Ultimak with a red dot is the only way to go. Its not in your face blocking your view, allows for co-witnessed sights, shoulders and has the same cheek weld as your iron sights and snap shooting is a breeze. It makes for very fast shooting with good solid hits as far as you can reasonably shoot. I've tried the rear mounted sights and while they do work, they dont allow for natural shooting, they block your field of view, make you hold your head in an unnatural position, and have to be removed to clean the gun. Dont see the advantage here, even if it is made for the gun.
