I recently purchased Kit # 1 here for building into a krink-type weapon. However, when I received the kits, I absolutely fell in love with the worn finish on the metal and am having a hard time imaging it covered with a bake-on finish. If I leave the metal as-is (shiny in places), will it rust or have the last 44 years developed some level of corrosion-resistance in the surface layer? How can I finish a new receiver to match the rest of the rifle? I'm thinking parkerizing it then buffing the edges, but what would y'all suggest? Many thanks |

Sounds like a cool idea to me! I like the weathered look as much or more than new depending on the item. Not sure of a good way to weather a receiver to match the rest of the parts. I would imagine putting the receiver in a bag of very fine grit sandpaper cut into small squares and shake to your heart's c0ontent would help things along. Someone might have a better way to do the job though. ![]() Keeping the metal oiled up will help keep rust at bay. Remember to post pics when it's done. |

Ha ha, love it! Think I may have my answer. Looks like the tacticool WASR-10 is going to get the krink treatment and the pick up kit is getting the vintage look. Thanks for the advice! Hmm, just need to figure out the 922(r) situation, though... BAH, compliance sucks! I'll just make me a vintage krink... |
