| I have a post ban AKM that the brake was welded on back in the 1990's by KFS. I finally got the weld off but the FSB is stuck on. I also have the two pins and detent out. What could be holding the sight on? Are these sights held on some other way? I've looked for a NOS one but have had no luck. I looked at Polytech.com and aa-ok.com and they don't have any in stock. Thx |

Thx The detent is held by the cross pin. You need to push them out and reset (replace if necessary) the spring inside. |

You will likely only find a Chinese FSB on gunbroker or the EE. Here is the Bulgy AK-47 FSB that will fit on a Chinese barrel. This is the gas block if you want to change that part as well. If AK-builder doesn't have the parts, check APEX or Robert RTG.
Harbor Freight carries a 20 ton shop press that, like most Harbor Freight tools, is good enough for hobby use. Coupons for 20-25% off are easy to find. AK-builder has a barrel press kit that has several useful pieces to work on your gun. |

Thx for the info. I got a dremel 80 piece kit make by drill master for only $9.00 and it did the job. Harbor Freight also has a 6 ton press that might work? If Curtis is taking new work maybe it would be good to let him do the work and maybe also do a bead blast and parkerize.
Edit: I ordered a 12 ton shop press from Harbor Freight after checking with a couple gunsmiths and local machine shops prices. I don't think getting the FSB off will be a problem but getting it or another on on might be a different thing? aa-ok is out of bulgy FSB at present but I am on the waiting list when they are in stock. I've got the bug now and am looking at building a AK74 kit. I'll post back on this thread how things work out. |
