Is a going price for Polytech Legend (pre 89), never fired, comes with original box, magazine, manuals, etc, and it does look like its in excellent condition online; is that worth $2500.00!?  Is it even worth that much? I know they're no longer imported and they're rare but didn't think that they would have such a high asking price!

I guess the question should be how much is it with to YOU?

With all the hysteria lately I think people are starting to price gouge cause of the elections.

I will admit that a preban Poly is worth more than most.

blackfly53;

Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a hold of a PreBan Polytech Legend, which is contrary to everything I've been doing to selling off my collection (caught between a rock and a hard place). The condition of the rifle from pictures online looks great. But, seeing the varied price ranges I've seen lately for rifles, I wasn't sure if anybody here had any insight as to how much they would typically run for.

I don't want to pay $2500 later on just to find out I was duped on the price. I come to respect the opinion of many on this board so I would much rather get advice here before digging into something like that.

 Just my .02. ....I think alot of it has to do with area as far as market prices go. In my area depending on the dealer, the prices run something like $800-1300 for a fixed stock polytech W/spike bayo. $700-1000 for norinco. Folders usually bring a $100 more premium. A friend in Ohio bought a legend for $1000 but he says a lot of people are out of work and strapped for cash there. You're going to pay a premium for a NIB gun that is almost 20yrs. old with all the accs. that is unfired, how much of a premium is up to you to decide.

I'm disgusted at the recent (last 6 months) price jump of Polytech Legends. I remember seeing NIB one's come up for sale periodically just last year for $1500. People are just bidding on them like crazy now. If I were in the market for one now, even a NIB, I would still never pay $2k+ for one. That's friggin insane to me.

I think a lot of it has to do with one particular bidder/buyer on Gunbroker that has been buying them up at any price and trying to sell them later.  I'd assume that had a bit to do with the insanity.  It's led to a new selling standard there because of that.

Yeah just when I get in the market for a Legend this guy starts buying them up as fast as he can and then resells them for some really crazy prices I'll wait and see what happens later. I don't want one bad enough to pay 2500. There are other things out there

Wow lets hope he has an FFL, the ATF is clamping down hard on that "reselling" bullshit....

When you consider that Chicom AKs have not been imported into the US for many
years and that they will never again be imported into the states the value jumps.
Thicker stamped receivers, chrome lined barrels and awesome triggers help boost the value.

and they still aren't worth the prices that they are going for.

When i first saw that price ($2500),for the Poly Legend, i couldn't believe it, but i got curious as to what i paid for one in 1988, and i found the receipt, and it cost me $850 OTD, so if you add 20 years inflation i think it would be pretty close... I also bought a bullpup 86s that cost me $900, i quickly sold it, as it had nowhere near the workmanship of the Legend....I say this just as i take apart my Sar-1...
