Just finished installing the front sight assembly for a polytech spike bayonet and have fitted the bayonet on and put in the cross pin that the bayonet pivots around to snap open and closed.

My question: is the pin supposed to be flaired over on both sides to prevent it from backing out????

Its my understanding that it is held in positon by tension. I had it at the range this weekend and it was starting to back out , but did not. With a little effort its pretty easy to push out.

Ok. Well I saw some pics online at one web site ,but they were not close ups so it was hard to tell. Thanks for the info.

Anyone know how to flair this pin? Use a hammer and ball bearing?
