Did polytech every make chrome follower mags with no "Made in China Poly" stamp on the base.
The ones I can buy do not have that stamp on the base. But they have 3 witness holes and the chrome follower. Are they still polytech mags? |

They should be flat back if they are not someone may be trying to sell you some kind of Frankenstein mag. |

Polytech was the only manufacturer to produce chrome follower mags. Only came with Polytech Legends as their premium aks line. Yes some were stamped and some were not just like all Chinese mags... Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, are you saying that only the Legend series came with the chrome follower mags? |

The Spikers (in box) I had came with chrome follower mags. Exactly, of the twelve or so NIB Polytech rifles I own only two didn't come with the chrome follower mags and those were very very early imported factory 416 guns. I think I just misunderstood what he was saying... |

That is what I have always thought but looks like others came with chrome follower mags as well. |
| I have 10 or so Chinese flat back mags I bought in 1993 new in wrappers. I recall the wrappers had "Made in China" stickers on them. They have chrome followers but only 1 witness hole with nothing stamped on them. Are they Polytech or Norinco? I thought all Polytech had 3 witness holes. Did Norinco make any chrome follower mags? |
|
From what I know Polytech was the only to have chrome followers but who knows they both shared factories?

Keep in mind that Polytech was just a name used - not a "factory." There were a few factories that supported the manufacture of several Polytech-branded things. And over time, things were made until sometimes suppplies ran low/out then received from other factories to continue the production. Not everything such as floorplates may have received the usual stamp, but they're "Polytech" branded. |

Well put for sure.

Beware of fake chrome follower mags . It is easy to add witness holes and chrome plated followers . Make sure the witness holes are punched and not drilled . Just saying . I got mine back in the early 90's. Back then most people bad mouthed Chinese rifles. I doubt anyone was making fake chrome follower mags then. These days, I would not be surprised at all. |
