I found a Polytech Legend for sale at a local shop. The gun includes the box, manuals 3 mags cleaning kit etc. The wood is Dark colored and nice,as is the guns blueing. The reason I am hesitant about buying it is the former owner has a side mounted scope mount installed. The mount looks like a standard side mount but it appears it was drilled and tapped into the reciever. The job looks very clean and neat. I can get the gun for $1300. is it worth the money in this condition. It bums me that the owner had this mount installed but other than this the gun looks like new.

If you must have it, then it's a good deal.  Otherwise, I'd probably save my money and with forking out that kind of money, get one you actually want.

With that said, the holes can be welded up and the receiver refinished in such a way you'd never even know there were holes there.  Mario (Piece of History Firearms) is a master at covering up the holes - he removed the side-mounted scope rail from a few Romanian SAR-1's I had and even with looking hard, you can't tell there were ever any holes in the receiver.
