I have a postban polytech ak that was in customs when the 1989 ban went into effect and it had the underfolding bayonet and bayonet lug removed.  Assuming I am able to locate the front sight assembly with underfolding bayonet (which are very hard to find) would it be worth converting into preban style with the correct US parts or would it be a waste of money and time.  The rifle is in very good + condition and has never been fired(I know this because the barrel was filled with cosmo as well as the gas tube and port along with no marks on the bolt face when I bought it).  I only have $300 into it.  Thanks for any help.  The one in question is in the middle.  This is how I bought it but it no longer has the pistol grip on it.

Sounds Looks nice, wish I had it.

From the pic, hard to tell exactly what's missing from the sight assy. Do you mean the hook at the front that holds the bayo extended, or the hinge section at the rear, or both?

Looks like the bosses for both are still there, correct?

If it is one of the rifles in the picture then you already need to install the US compliance parts into it as the thumbhole stock has been replaced and as such it would not be compliant with 922(r) without US parts.
