I have 2 maadi thumb-hole ak's both have bayonet lugs no muzzle attachments,---2 thumb-hole Norinco mak-90 no bayonet lugs and no muzzle attachments,---and last 1 mak-90 built on a maddi receiver thumb-hole stock, no bayonet lug, no muzzle attachments. all of witch don't have any USA parts---I believe these were made after the AWB but I assume they were made before the import ban. If this is correct than am I OK to do with as I see fit. Add all the nasty extra things without worrying about how many USA parts I have in it??? Thanks for any help |

The rifles were imported after the 1989 ban took effect, that is why they have thumbhole stocks or were required to be in that condition if they did not have US parts installed to lower their imported parts count. You can do with them as you want now that the 1994 AWB has expired, but you must still comply with the 1989 ban. You must make the rifles 922(r) compliant if you change their importable configuration, just like building up a foreign parts kit now. In other words, you are still required to install 4-5 US parts in a milled receivered rifle and 5-6 in a stamped receivered rifle if you change out the thumbhole stock to remain legal. |
