Has anyone shot/tested this ammo?  I'm thinking ahead a bit.  I'm still looking for the right AK in Indiana-try to find something other than an SAR. Anyway, I know AKs are fun, cheap to shoot.  I'm also interested in home defense.  Unlike my .223, AK ammo presents more of an over-penetration hazard for this purpose.  What about the factory prefrag available?  Should I forget the AK for home defense & save it for plinking?

I guess most of the people around here shoot the standard, cheap ammo.
Looks like you will have the be the fragmented ammo tester and let us know how it works.  My SAR 1 is loaded with Ulyanovsk Hollow Points right now.
If you have a shop where you can inspect a SAR why not consider one?  They are cheap and they are the real deal.

I would stay away from 7.62 X 39 for home defence.  It just penetrates way too much.

I have heard of prefragmented ammo, but only rarely.  Do you have any info on this ammunition?  I would like to look into it more for when someone else asks.

Without having seen it, I would be leery about using it.  At the minimum, if you were intent on using it, I would by a piece of drywall and use the ammo on it.  Have something behind it (like a second piece of drywall) to see how the penetration spreads or penetrates a second layer.

Glaser & Mag-Safe ammo is prefragmented.  That's what I was referring to.  It doesn't look like it'll matter much, anyway.  Here in Indiana, we've got a ton of SARs, not much else.  I'm not feeling very Romanian lately.
