Last week I bought a Century Arms GP1975 AK clone in 7.62 x39.

I finally got out to the range today.  I encontered some feeding problems.

With some magazines the bolt would not strip a round off the mgazine.  On other magazines, the bolt would only partially feed a round into the chamber.

Could I be in need of a replacement recoil spring ?

These magazines all worked fine with other AK clones that I had.

The rifle is very accurate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have never experienced a problem like that with 7.62 AK's but have with 5.45 AK's.  What I did to determine it was the mags was, I loaded all my mags with 5 rounds then ran the mags through the rifle in question.  If a mag didn't work I set it aside and marked it.  It may have nothing to do with the rifle, just that the rifle/mag combo is not compatible.  I know the GP 75's use a US made receiver, that could be the difference between your other AK's and the new one.

My GP1975 did the exact same thing when new.  I took it to the gunsmith at the store where I bought it.  He said he could probably fix it if I wanted, but he recommended sending it back to Century.  He told me they have excellent warrantee and customer sevice in his experience.  He also said that they have very few problems with their Centuries, about the same level as other manufacturers, but when they do run into a problem gun Century is so quick to make it right that they recommend this path as the first thing to do.

Excellent service was indeed the case for me.  Within two weeks of me mailing the rifle they had a brand new GP1975 in my hands and it hasn't had one single issue over many thousands of rounds.  It runs perfectly.  Century was very apologetic about me getting a problem rifle and they were very quick to say "send it back and we'll make it right".  Which they did, and very fast.  They asked if I would prefer getting my original rifle back repaired (assuming that was possible) or would prefer a new rifle.  I said it didn't matter.  They sent a new one.
