Here is My GP-WASR the day I brought it home.

I used wood stripper, #0000 fine steel wool pad, water, fine grit sand paper ( tough getting all that crap off). After stripping, I soaked in water/bleach mixture for 3 hours. I then soaked in water and soap to get access bleach off. Been drying since about 9 0'clock last night. Gonna start the stain process Tuesday. To my surprise, the dark grip ended up matching the lighter colored ones.

I decided to polish the Bayonette and the oil can. Turned out nice I think.

I used Iodine and Minwax Red Mohagany.

Why don't you refinish the whole rifle while you are at it? It would look a LOT nicer.

Call me stupid but, isnt the rifle painted flat black? I thought about maybe getting some quality flat black paint and redoing it but, not sure what kind of paint I need to get. I also thought about blueing it but, that would take away the oringinal look and feel. What kind of paint do I need to repaint the actually rifle? As far as stain, Already took care of that. I'll have some pics posted soon. Thanks for the help guys.

Use Dupli-Color high temp paint. I've heard a few people using it and it holds pretty well. I plan on using it on my next builds.

Looks really good!!! I love my WASR-10! They're neat little rifles for the price, and you did an excellent job refinishing it!

I just refinished the wood. I actually wanted to repaint the rifle but, I didn't want to have to disasemble the rifle. I'm not that brave yet. hippie.gif

Nah, just remove the grip and furniture... I left mine assembled for the most part, except for the gas tube. Here's mine with duplicolor:
