Given the way that the AK's buttstock is attached, how do underfolder stocks mount to the receiver? The ones I've seen look like they go straight though the rear of the receiver, through the area where the wood stock inserts. How does an underfolder attach, does it leave a big open space at the rear of the receiver, and is it hard to do? I'm thinking my SAR-1 will turn into an underfolder in mid-September. |

The underfolder pivot mechanism does go thru the rear of the receiver. Although they look wicked as hell when they are folded, they are uncomfortable to shoot with your jaw laying on the metal underfolder stock. Really rattles your teeth. By all means get an underfolder, but also have another AK (Full Buttstock) for comfortable shooting. KF |

Arsenal of Bulgaria has not one, but two underfolders listed on their website, with pictures! www.arsenalinc.com/sasm7.html www.arsenalinc.com/sasm7classic.html Needless to say, they look sweet! Oh, and as for a folder on the SAR-1, just get the Romanian side-folder. I picked one up and put it away for September 14, 2004, 12:01AM and then I will pop it on. Might send the rifle away to get the muzzle threaded and a new gas block with bayonet lug put on. Definately doing the barrel up though |
