Hey all,

What would you put the value of a Maadi AK47 at?  I have a gent that is willing to sell me one NIB for $269.  I can't find too much info on these.

Who's the importer?  Century International imported them and so did Styer I think and those kind are more expensive I think they are pre-ban thats why.

Make sure it takes high cap mags,it sounds like a Maadi MISR 10,many of which were converted to high cap. Also make sure it has a straight cut reciever. The price is good if it takes high cap mags.

If you could find out the model number,it would help.

I'm going to go check it out tonight.  What should I look for?  What is a "Straight cut" reciever?  I've done a little surfing and most of the Maadi's I've seen have a thumbhole stock.  This one does not.  He also said that his Hi-cap mags fit into it.  One thing that puzzles me is that it has some large 3 inch muzzle brake (described to me by another friend that saw it) on it.  This hasn't been in any of the pics I've seen today on the web either.  From this (and I know it's not a lot) what would you guess it is?

It sounds like he put a 74 type break on it,the only other thing you need to find out,and its easy to tell,is if its one of the Maadi/Chinese rifles.Steer clear if it is,look at the rivet pattern on the forward part of the reciever. You want the rivets to be level,European pattern. The Chinese pattern is one high and the second one lower.Top rifle has European pattern rivets bottom is Chinese.

Tell him, if you don't buy it I will...Chinese or not.

Well I went and checked it out.  The guy said it was NIB but I could tell it had SUBSTANTIAL use.  It was not a Chinese model, but in looking at the bore and the extractor (very rounded) I knew this wasn't the deal I was looking for.  I'm actually considering trying a build now.  I'll be posting some questions on that.
