Anybody know the proper thread for the muzzle nut and barrel on the front of the RPD? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I saw one suggestion of 18x1 LH.

Also, what is the proper way to take the muzzle nut off? I don't want to scratch up the muzzle nut.

Well I figured out how to get the muzzle cap off. Push in the little detent thing so the cap can turn and then it twists right off.

My RPD with a new Sarco barrel finished by projectguns is M16x1.0 RH measured with my digital calipers.

Commie barrels are 18x1.

I had mine cut down to 16" and rethreaded for 5/8x24 RH, this allows use of many of the .308 caliber muzzle devices available.
Currently an FSC30 is mounted. This doesn't answer your question but is something to consider.
