Has anyone shot their RPD with a scope?  I got to handle my first one yesterday and they seem to be very accurate with iron sights, but I was wondering if anyone checked it's accuracy with a scope shooting out to 100 yards?

I don't think I've ever seen an RPD with a scope attached.  Would be interesting to see how the attachment is - unless someone copied/modified the PKM-style side mount where it can be flipped-down and out of the way of the top cover when it's raised.

Unless you mean the "RPK" with a side-mounted scope rail/scope.

No I was talking about the RPD belt fed one by Vector Arms, or kit ones.  I guess the scope would need to be forward of the top cover...  I have seen a SAW with a scope mounted to the top cover but I'm not sure if that would work with the RPD top cover.

The way the RPD top cover is, you probably could put a rail system on top of it.  Accuracy would then really depend on how loose/tight the top cover is hinged-on.  A mount could be affixed to the side of the receiver but would need to be able to bring the scope down to the left or right side of the receiver to facilitate opening the top cover.  Many PKM's have a similar scope mount system and many folks with PKM's have anxiously awaited the clever individual/company that can make them.  I'd bet if someone did market one, it wouldn't take long for RPD owners to have their own version if not the same.

So far, I'd say some kind of rail system on the top cover is the only way to go.
