Rail? > Optics & Accessories

I know this is probaly for the optics forum, but you dont get much traffic and not enough info.

I have the sam 5g should I go with top cover mount, gas tube mount or have the side mount installed?

I say side rail.

Some like the gas tube and that's fine.

You can cross top cover off of the list.
They just don't work. Too much movement.

What about the Krebs rail that mounts on the sight block and rear tang? (continuous, well supported, low and central rail between the two points)?

I don't know that it will fit on a milled tang, but there may not be any difference.

From photos on Krebs' site, it has an Arms #40-type latch you flick off and then the rail rotates up at the gas block so you can break down easily for cleaning...

That's how it appears to me, at least.

Well if you are looking to mount a red dot reflex optical scope then I would go with a gas tube mount. I personally like the Ultimak system because I got one and it works really well, but if you plan on using a magnified scope for long range shooting then I would say side mount.

I have one of the Krebs rails on the way....I will see if it works on my SAM 7,I was kinda wondering the same thing.
