I had a nice free day to go to the range. The wife is out of town, kids with grammaw and I'm off work for the week. The weather was perfect, 80 and sunny with a slight breeze. I warmed up with my new Ruger MKIII target 5 1/2" bull barrel. It was my first day out with it and it ran flawlessly. Once sighted in I was shooting 1/2" groups off a rest at 25yds. Next was the good old Kimber .45. No surprises there but I was testing some new Novak mags and they ran through 150 rounds without incident. Lastly was my Bulgarian slr-101. It may be the bastard of the Arsenal line but it never fails to amaze me. I had a big orange tide bottle at 100yds and smaller cascade and anti-freeze bottles at 50yds. Shooting offhand I could make them dance at will, it was almost boring. It was all fun and games until the shit got hot and I burnt my finger on the lower HG retainer. I always forget to bring my Chinese SKS to rotate in and let my ak cool. I rounded out the perfect range day with a double Crown on the rocks and a cold beer chaser at the bar.  Yea, that's right, my range has a bar and life is good.
