| I am looking at removing my rear sight and replacing it with another, can anyone give me a hand on how to do this? Also, I am looking at installing the rear sight from an RPK on my Vector, so that way I can make windage adjustments without messing with the front sight post. It seems that Tapco made an adjustable rear sight for the ak out of plastic, but they no longer carry them and the RPK rear sight is metal. |

set rifle on ground, or in vise, in a normal horizontal position. lift up the rear site about a half inch and slip it into a sock. Take a flathead screwdriver, and put it on the very front corner , in the centerline groove of the rear site at a 45 degree angle (blade pointed to the rear, with the handle forward) have the blade of the screwdriver verticle, and in the centerline slot. hit the handle (like driving a nail) and the leaf spring will get compressed and the site will go flying out at a million miles an hour.... and the sock will keep the site from hitting you in the eye and/or achieving near earth orbit for assembly, get a mallet, and push the site into it's groove at a 45 degree angle, and hit it one time hard (hammer swing at 45 degree angle rear to front motion. (poopsite dirrection of disassembly) |
