I have a few NODAK spud receivers I want to use gunbake on. Do I need to do anything to the receiver prior to applying gunbake?

Are these un-built on receivers? I wouldn't recommend you apply finish to a stripped receiver. It will make your job building them harder.

Build them as a rifle or pistol, test fire for function, then refinish.

I want to build then finish but don't know if I have to do anything to them prior to finish being applied?

You want to degrease a couple times. I find brake cleaner works. House them down a couple times and let dry before doing any refinishing.

blast with aluminum-oxide, degrease well and spray with K-Phos which will etch the metal.  Preheat the parts before spraying with the bake on finish.  It will allow the coating to dry quicker on contact.  Wait 30 minutes before baking (check what the label says).  Don't touch the parts with your fingers after degreasing.  You can get no lint cotton medical gloves at the local Walgreens for about a buck.
