| I am always very dubious about the reliability of any magazine over 30 rounds, but I see a lot of people buying AK drums without complaint. Are these things just as good to go as the 30 rounders or just "pretty good"? I see that there are several different types, so I guess there's probably no one answer to this. |

In my experience, ComBloc 30 and 40 round mags are both equally 100% reliable. Meanwhile drums are about 90-95% reliable. I'm referring to the better quality Chicom, Bulgarian, and Romanian 75-rounders. If they are just for range use, then drums are fine. For actually field use, I would always stick with standard curved 7.62 mags. |

Spring seems pretty good on mine. I got a romy drum and the way it locks into the rifle is looser than a standard magazine. My guess is that they're not as good as regular mags. North Hollywood shoot out. Gunman has automatic AK. He's got a drum installed. The drum magazine caused a fail to feed. Ultimately, the shooter gets killed. He was gonna die anyways but I think this helped speed the process up. I could be wrong. Someone will correct me soon if I am. |

| I have a Chinese 75 round drum that I bought back in 1990 (or so). Thousands upon thousands of rounds in multiple AKs. ZERO malfunctions or issues of any kind. I would question how the Hollywood bank robbers modified their guns for F/A. I suspect it was probably an issue with that over the drum. |
