So I have an AK Pistol that has a welded thread protector.  Whats the best way to remove it.  See the pics below.  Any thoughts?  I was thinking about cutting through it with a dremel and a cutoff wheel.

That is how I would do it.


Me too, I would err on the side of the brake and you could gently grind and file the barrel underside to look normal.

Yup - Dremel cutoff.  I would litterally sacrifice the thread protector to insure a perfect barrel.

Dremel with good cutting blade.  Believe or not if you take your time you could probably salvage both parts, but if you are like a bank robber and can't wait to get the vault open then hack more on the side of the brake rather than the barrel as I'm sure you want to put a different muzzle attachment on there.
