| I have a SAR-1 and can't get the buttstock to budge. Removed the two screws and tried tapping from the inside with a hammer and piece of wood. Am I missing something? Can't get it to move at all like it has been glued. Any tricks to this? |

Is the stock laminated? I had a WASR with a laminated stock and it really was glued in there. I ended up butchering the stock (gonna throw it away anyway) to get it off. Otherwise it sounds like you found the best way I know of - big hammer and a wooden dowel. It gets easier after you get it off the first time. Good luck...! |
| Thanks, Buddy. Also just read that it might be pried off by leveraging a screw driver against the rear trunion. Too much space to do it with inserting a block. I just don't want to mess anything up. It's a real nice stock but I wanted to put a folder on it for a while. |

If you haven't already, you might try vicing up the gun (padded vise), barrel up, and lie the dowel inside against the front of the stock.. Then use a heavy hammer on the dowel it and it should pop out eventually. You said that you already got the two screws out, so we know they're not part of the problem! |
