I am interested in making the leap from screw build to rivet build soon and I need some advise on what tools to get.  I have attempted to contact Chris at Greenlight Arms for riveting tools and jigs but he must be on vacation because I have not had a response yet.  What do the pros use to rivet their rifles together?

He is overwhelmed by the response he has received, here is a note that was posted on another board today:
"It took them--him about 2 weeks to get back to me. he told me he is up to his eye balls in work. he also said that he had just quit his job regular so he could focus on greenlight. the e mail i used is [email protected]" Posted by 50BMG July 1, 2005

I got my rivet tools in from cwtoyota (Greenlight arms) today and I must say I'm very impressed.  They are superb quality!  The machining is excellent and the tools are very well made.  If you have a problem contacting him via e-mail or on the web, call him on the phone.  You won't be disappointed with his tools for the price!

When a professional AK smith rivets a rifle together what tools do they use?  I really want to rivet my next build.  There is a butt load of information about screw builds but not much info on rivet builds.  Strange.

I want all of the tools that Greenlight offers but I haven't heard back from him.  I guess I will try calling.  Does he take PayPal?

The "Plinker's jig" is supposed to be the cat's ass, but it is quite a bit more expensive than the boltcutter tool.

I got all his tools and just used the trigger guard jig this morning.  My first time I got all 5 rivets perfect.  They look exactly like they should look.  I've heard of people having both the Plinker and bolt cutter and using the boltcutter just because it's faster.

I would imagine a "professional" would use whatever is fastest and gives the best results.  IMO, you can get professional results with a variety of tools, it's all in the operator.  That being said, I have no clue what they actually use, probably a Plinker type jig.  Call Greenlight, it's by far the fastest way to get ahold of him.

The advantage of the Plinkers jig are the different adapters that come with it.  The jig has the ability to set all of the front, and rear trunnion rivets, as well as those for folders.  You get a few different rivet sets, and instructions.  I use one and think it gives great results.  The other tool I use the most is a trigger rivet jig from AK-builder.  RTC

I just squeezed my first rivet with the Greenlight arms boltcutter rivet squeezer.  I have a junk receiver to practice on, so I let 'er rip.  No practice, never done it before.  Picture of my result below.  I'd say it looks about as good as it can.

Hi guys.  I saw this post and thought I would let you guys know that I am up to my eyes in work right now.  I am caught up on rivet tools, but I'm a few weeks behind on e-mail.  I will be up all night tonight answering e-mail.

I did unplug the phone all last week because I've been trying to catch up.  It's no big secret that I am a one man show right now, so it's tough to keep up.  The huge response to my RPK and Yugo receivers is what put me so far behind.

My rivet tool e-mail is in your Inbox right now.

I'm glad you are getting caught up.  It sounds like your business is very successful and that's great.  Everyone has been saying good things about your rivet tools.  Hopefully you will have time to fill my order soon.  I have two Armory USA 1.0mm receivers inbound and I want to finish my M92 the "correct" way.
