I purchased a scope mount from AIMsurplus and it didn't align properly over the dust cover.  I pushed it over (effortlessly) and it aligned perfectly... umm... but it's not supposed to move...  so now I have come to realize that the scope mount moves from side to side when any pressure is applied, and I was wondering if any of you have had the same problem and/or have a way to fix it.  Thanks in advance.

Does it not latch toghtly to the rail - what exactly is loose?

Does it have the AK mount or the SVD mount?  Do you know how to tell the difference?

I do not know the difference between AK and SVD.  Please fill me in All the directions I am referring to are from the shooter's eye.  The mount locks in place well and does not move forward or backward, but it can be pushed left and right.  It seems like either the rail is too small, or the mount was made for a slightly bigger rail.

They're adjustable. Hopefully its just loose, and this will fix it..

Wow, just tightening up the hex screw on the bottom of the mount fixed it... I thought that would just tighten up the lever, but apparently it does a little more than that.  I am now slapping myself.

Not all scope mounts go directly over the top cover (centerline) of the AK.  Some are offset to the left.  Also, the POSP scopes with integrated mount are offset to the left.  I didn't think I would be able to get used to them but I did. I could never get my POSP mounted right until CAMPYBOB sent me the link that clange posted some years ago.

I just ordered a low profile weaver mount from nightvisionweb last night that supposedly mounts right over the centerline of the top cover.
