Is it worth the $125 or so additional dollars to purchase a Romy PSL with the scope included... or would you suggest picking up a rifle and purchasing an aftermarket scope ? Thanks for your input !! |
If you want it to look "original" The Romanian PSO non iluminated model is the one you want. its only 4X but I shoot fine with mine. they can be found slightly cheaper but if you add in shipping then you may be only slightly less than 125.00 If your looking for a higher magnification tube then skip the issued scope ,these can be found for 130.00--200.00 range depending where you buy from. Just remember the rifle is not going to be a sub-MOA tackdriver out to 600 yds and a higher magnification scope wont help it shoot like one The trick in using the Russian style Drag. Reticle is use the aiming cheveron like a front sight post instead of a traditional crosshair These scopes were meant to hit a man sized target quickly ,Not for putting holes in tiny groups on paper. Good luck and good shooting. |

mine came with the 4x scope. i didn't care for it. bought the 12x scope and like it MUCH better. that said the 12x is a bit weird and it does not range through the power bands like a normal US optic.. it works once you learn it but it is different. mine holds about 2-3 inches at 100 yards with 50's production surplus ammo. i can't complain. i tried some handloads with it and it never got significantly better than about 1 1/2 - 2". not a tack driver but certainly a decent shooter. |

I love my PSL. The 4x scope was OK. The 8x posp scope is even better. Sub 2" groups of ten shots at 100 yards is what it's good for. It was designed as a designated marksman rifle. And for that kind of shooting, the accuracy would be fine. Mine seems to prefer Czech 1960's silvertip light ball ammo. |
