Woo-Hoo!!
I was going through my ammo inventory, counting and re-labeling the ammo cans, and came across a can of what I had labeled as East German 7.62x39, 700 rounds on strippers.
This turned out to be headstamped 711/86, which is Russian manufacture.
I remember when I bought this ammo back in the early 90's, that it had been imported from East Germany, and they had been pulling the steel core M43 bullets and reloading them with lead core, so that's what I thought I had.
So, out of curiosity I pulled a bullet and dissected it with a hack saw, and sure enough it's steel core!
I bought this in a sealed case, so I'm pretty sure it's all the same.
I have 1400 rounds of Chinese steel core headstamped 9141/73, also on strippers, and now this.
Pretty happy to discover what I thought was lead core is actually original Russian steel core.
Just wanted to gloat, er, uh, I mean share.
Thanks for following along.
