Wonder if the guys GPS unit uses american satellites? GLONASS Nothing stopping them from using both. Of course, there's only one they can trust |

IIRC it is a mak with a holster that acts as a butstock |
|
It's actually a Stechkin. A full auto pistol with butt stock http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stechkin_APS |

Maybe. But I know the Russians have a version of our Woodland camo they use: http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=Russia It's crazy how many different patterns they have. |

Dude, wow. |

Man, it would be freakin sweet if we could somehow get semi auto Vintorez rifles here. Even if they were fake suppressors.
I wonder how the 9mm cartridge performs for them. |

What is the flash suppressor/comp in the first pic(also seen in the in 2nd set of pics)?

I HATE when that happens |

Cool pics, although I'm surprsied at the lack of trigger finger discipline in a few shots. Granted we don't know what is going on (in the middle of an engagement) but from a few of the "resting" picks it is clear the booger hooks are inside the trigger guards. Other guys seem to be pretty good about it.

I'd love to have some of that Fall "oakleaf" SS pattern camo.

It also looks like some of the rifle have gas tube mounted rails similar to the Ultimaks.

I suspect maybe they ARE ultimaks http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g178/krumpken/029.jpg They look exactly like Ultimaks. They probably are. This is hilarious. They invented the AK platform, but they're using our US mods with the Ultimaks and the Eotechs. |

America is home of modularity man, even our Army is a modular force
the Russians are smart, why try to reinvent everything when they have a pretty decent relationship with the U.S.? |

This pic looks like he's got a sweet camo on that AK |

Not if Putin gets reelected for his 3rd term as President... I'm going to have to get me an eotech to mimic their loadout. |

Ya, I'm feeling that load out would be tight, I definitely want to get a smoke camo pattern like that guy has on his |

In recent years the Russians have been utilizing holographic sights for their small arms. You'll find Eotechs on AK-74Ms as well as light machine guns. The MVD (interior troops) seem to have really embraced western mods and optics for their AKs. The images above of the special forces is actually a competition in Russia where special forces from all over Russia compete - kind of like a Special Forces Competition Day sort of thing - they're from 2009 I beleive. |
|
Quoted: Check out the EOTECHs Look at the muzzle device on the guy on the right, almost looks like a Jerry Miculek or PRI muzzle brake. I wonder what kind of pistols they are carrying ? ? ? ? Because of the abundance of Makarov pistols in Russia, a lot of troops and police still carry the Makarov. However, small numbers of personnel have been issued with more modern designs - the two below are examples: GSh-18 (9mm) |

Does the Russian military have a standardized rifle? So far I've seen AK-100's, AK-74's and AK-47 series rifles. Not that the U.S. Military is any better, but do they?

As far as I know, AK-74M is the standard issue now. AK-105 was also officially selected to replace AK-74U. However, it seems that the Russian government has recently selected AK-200 as a replacement rifle for AK-74M. From what I remember reading, they plan to slowly phase in AK-200 starting next year. One of my favorite pics (AK-104) http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/125/ak105withkobrareddot.jpg |
