| Installed a bullet guide in my 5.45 saiga about a year ago and ended up taking it off the other day. The area underneath has rusted through the finish. Anyone else have this problem? Not a drop of corrosion anywhere else on the rifle; when i shot corrosive ammo i would wash the damn thing in the bathtub, dry it off and oil it up. Also, I have never shot the rifle after i installed the bullet guide only before. |
| Probably excess moisture seeped into the space and started to rust. I'd try compressed air to blow water out of all the nooks and crannies and use a penetrating lubricant to displace any other moisture. I think there's probably corrosion between the trunnions and receivers as well. You could also use heat to evaporate the moisture. |

Or, stop dropping in water and use a lot of elbow grease when cleaning. |
