Don't use brake cleaner on the trigger works! It took all the paint off of mine but it did'nt hurt any other part of the rifle. |
I picked up one today at a local gun store and was throughly impressed, but the finish did look a little under par when compared to the Robinson VEPRs to say the least. Still is a great gun,. Fit, Form, Function there is very little to complain with about them. |

Hey I can't complain about the rifle I have had it thrown off my four wheeler and land in a creek. Dug it out removed the mag and the round in the chamber and washed it out in the creek. Gave it a good shaking and reloaded it. Thirty min latter I shot a couple of hogs with it. I have been real rough with it because it is a tool to me and I have got scratchs on the finish but as long as it works I am happy. |
The SLR's are built and finished in Bulgaria, and yeah, the finish is not all that hot, but it is the standard military finish. The M series built here in the USA are zinc phosphated and then a black enamel is baked on over top. No, you don't want to let a serious solvent sit on the finish for a period of time, but standard cleaning regimen shouldn't hurt it. I know a guy who left FP10 on his rifle for a couple of days and the cleaning agent in the FP10 did soften the finish up. Arsenal took his rifle back and refinished it for the cost of shipping to them. |
