This is my first AK so I am not sure of some of the part names.
I purchased a used unfired SGL20 a month or so ago ( of course before the SGL21 sale)  and just started playing around with it. I seem to have a problem with magazines not going in with out a lot of manipulation. The Magazine is hitting the piece of metal above the dimple but below the rail I am not sure what the part is called but it looks like a magazine guide.  I think the problem is that they are not even. One side is protruding past the dimple causing the mag to catch on it.

Me being a impatient tinker decided to take the dermal and a file to it and grind it down some. It helped out but the Mags still catch here and there both Waffle Mags and Steel ones
My question is should both “mag guides”  be the same length? And can I do any damage by filling it down any more.

I can post a picture if my description sucks
Any help is appreciated

Thanks

One side is protruding past the dimple causing the mag to catch on it. Both tabs should extend past the "dimple". Contrary to popular belief. "dimples" do not control latteral play in a properly assembled AK.
