Well, I wasn't sure whether to put this here, or in the SKS forum, but here goes.

My SKS's trigger doesn't return to the forward position after firing. Once I chamber a round it is fine, then I shoot and it works, but after the first shot the trigger stays all the way to the back. I have to pull it forward, or flip the safety up to put it back into position. Then it fires, and the trigger gets stuck again.

I've tried cleaning it out real well, and giving it lube, but I haven't taken it apart or really messed with it at all. Any suggestions

Inspect all the parts. Could be a part either out of spec or not assembled correctly.
Is the spring itself good?

Well, everything looks ok...I've had it for about 5 years now and it used to work great, might be getting beat up.

I'll look it some more in the morning.

Try taking out the group and try it out so you can see what exactly is getting stuck.
Could well just be a worn edge on something.

Well, I looked at it some more and everything looks perfect in it. I guess I could just replace it with another one...

Is there any other part that could affect the trigger that isn't part of the trigger group?

Thanks for the help though. I appreciate it!

Well, I guess you can try checking out the whole sear assembly.

Is it possible to give the whole thing a dryrun outside of the firearm? (never tried that before)

Yes, it is possible to give the assembly a dry run outside of the rifle... But you have to have everything held just right so all the FC parts line up as if they were in the rifle.  I'm not familiar with the terminology of the parts, but there is a flat bar, I think it may be the disconnector,  that has to be lined up with another flat bar... When they line up one bar pushes the other which I believe contacts the sear to allow the hammer to trip.  IIRC, the hammer has to be in the cocked position, but you have to push it down to line the bars up as you pull the trigger.  It's a pain, wish I could give a clearer description.  It's sort of like trying to play with a rat trap.  Watch yourelf!
