I have an SLR 95 -milled reciever Post Ban, which means

thumbhole stock
no bayonet lug
pinned muzzle brake etc

In terms of stock application can a side folder similar to the M7 type be installed without major milling or is this rifle relegated to fixed stock application?

Thanks guys.

I put an ACE sidefolder on mine - the mechanism doesn't look as good as a real sidefolder but it is a very solid stock.   http://riflestocks.com/store/

*I also swapped out parts to make sure I was in compliance (trigger group, grip, piston, etc.)

The SLR95 is a SOLID gun - very accurate for an AK.

Yes I saw that when I was researching which prompted the question.

After speaking with a specific builder he told me that converting them was a major job which required a great deal of mill work. It would also seem cost prohibitive. THat in conjunction with the fact that I do not want to risk jacking up my weapon has me questioning this.

THat's why I asked

Installing the ace side folder is what I did as well. Very easy to do and you can get the exact length stock you want.

One more vote for ACE, I have 4 and they are rock solid.  You can even do wood folding stock

I'm assuming the sidefolder is you gents are referring to is the AKRBMC here:

http://riflestocks.com/store/product58.html

It also occurs to me that this application is not exactly a perfect fit either?

If that is the case , does this affect the tactical function of this and or interfere with high speed manipulations? THe reason I ask is b/c that in it self would destro the purpose of installing it.

Your comments ad direction is much appreciated gentlemen

You have to cut the upper tang off the receiver with that one, which I would not do.  No going back.

ACE set up is modular, so you can fold to the left and right, you can also adjust higher and lower.  You can also buy different length and style of stocks.

Fold to right.

Fold to left.

You can even put wood on the folding mechanism

You can also get the receiver block that will not cut the tang, but I prefer to have it cut.

You should NOT be shooting with a stock folded HOWEVER - You CAN shoot the AK with the ACE sidefolding stock folded depending on how you adjust it.

If you have it fold towards the charging handle, it CAN interfere with operating the charging handle while closed.

Hope this helps,
