| I'm pretty new to the board and this topic has probably been covered somewhere in here already, but if so I haven't seen it. How does the SLR-95 stack up alongside other AK's in terms of accuracy? Also, what type of ammo does it seem to like best? I have had one for a number of years now but for some reason have never bothered to "group" the thing. It seems to be quite a bit more accurate than other AK's I've shot though. Has anyone shot theirs for groups? I've shot Russian 124gr HP through mine almost exclusively and have had no problems whatsoever in terms of reliability, but is this the load that most SLR's like best? |

Consider AKs "minute of torso" accurate. Milled receivers will have marginally better accuracy, but barrel harmonics are still crap. Watch and learn |
sorry, but this vid is totaly BS ! |
| Maybe I should watch the vid a few more times, but it appeared to me that the receiver was what was flexing rather than the barrel. If that is the case, I suspect that the more rigid milled receiver would flex less than some of the thinner stamped receivers I have owned in the past. I'm speculating of course, but it seems likely to me. hinking.gif |

Not to get off topic, but Ive watched the entire show several times. The AK barrel definately flexes alot. However when they show this guy pulling the trigger when shooting at the wood blocks, he pulls the trigger like hes shooting skeet with a shotgun. Makes me wonder how much of this he was doing when he was making the distant shots. Have the guy shooting the M16 shoot the AK the same way. If he was even remotely going for accuracy he would squeeze...remember BRAS? As for ammo, I dont think you have much of a choice with 762x39 other than Wolf or some of the good surplus that has dried up. Its not like 5.56 and the choices out there for the AR world. |
As can I, and many others I suspect. His trigger technique was like someone completely unfamiliar with the platform. I can't speak for everyone, but that is NOT how I fire my SLR. After spending only half an hour or so sending rounds down range, I developed a "feel" for the trigger and adapted very quickly, as most any other shooters of reasonable experience would. Heck, give me a wrist-rocket and a bag of marbles and I'll shoot better groups than this guy did after an hour or so. Different mechanisms, different technique. Simple as that. |

Ever try Federal Gold Medal Match .223 in an Arsenal SA-5 ? No? - of course you didn't. You shot Wolf. What sort of accuracy did you expect from shit ammo? Test with the SAME AMMO in both the AR and an AK, AND USE A PRECISION SCOPE ON BOTH GUNS - THEN report back on potential accuracy. The AK's open sights are small & more difficult to use than the average AR. |
