I now have my new STG-2000C from Inter Ordnance. As an inexpensive AK, not too bad. I like the sights. They are kind of like the Krebs combat sights. It came with an East German sling (only fitting since it a clone of the East German Weiger), a cleaning kit, and one PROMAG waffle mag (fits great). Tomorrow, I will be at the range after work to get some quality time with it and my Armory USA SSR-85C-2. Hopefully, I will have some pics by the weekend.

***UPDATE***

Range Report: (50 yards)

I was very pleased. First shot was about 2.5" just below the "X" on the B27 target. Next few shots were a little left. Made slight windage and elevation adjustments and had everything back in center. The light weight of the STG-2000C definitely comes into play. With the polymer handguards, polymer stock, and gas block/front sight combo, there is a notable savings in weight. It has a little more felt recoil than my WASRs. The stock feels good and the sights are really nice. The shorter sight alignment made target acquisition a little easier. The handguards did a good job shielding the heat. Overall impression, I LIKE IT.

The receiver is Romanian.

Pics should be up this weekend. I have a lot I need to take. In the meanwhile, if you pick up a Shotgun News, Inter Ordnance has been running a full page ad with these new additions.

How are the sights different?  I have not seen the Krebs units you referred to.  Also, does the furniture seem well made?  Are there heat shields in the hand guards?

I have one pre-ordered from Aim, so hopefully it will show soon.

I know what IO says they are supposed to look like...  that doesn't mean it is what they are shipping.

That is why many are asking for working pics.

Thanks for the update. Pics would rock so we could get a close up of the finishing and fit.

Also, how well did the magazines fit?

Pretty much what it is.  Romanian reciever and weiger furniture.

I wouldn't mind one in .223 though.

What you see in the photo is what I received. However, once I get some photos taken today or tomorrow, I will have them posted.

Not yet. Sorry guys. The weather has not been cooperating for the last few days. I prefer to take the photos outside where the light is better. Lighting inside our house is not bright enough for good photos.

Weather?? You're in Florida, i'm in Michigan!! It's 2 degrees outside!!!!

You are one lucky SOB to have the nerve to blame the weather.

Just kidding around BTW.

The weather has gotten better. Should have a nice sunny day tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have a new FAL coming next week and I want to get some pics of it before I go to Wally World to download the pics from my camera (digital camera is not compatible with my computer's OS). Hope you guys do not mind.

I did find these on AKForum.net:

Any typical "WASR issues" like canted parts or bad mag well widening?

How's the finish on the receiver and the rest of the gun?

Furniture solid and well-done?

Might have to look at one of these. Something unique.

Agreed, that's why I want one. It'll stand out in my stack of AR's and AK's.

Will standard AK handguards and gas tube covers fit this? How about stocks?

Front end looks too long for standard to fit, but it looks like the rear stock is attatched via the normal stamped receiver tang.

But then, if you did change them out it'd kind of defeat the whole purpose anyways.

Do the handgaurds have heat sheilds? Is there venting above the gas tube?

I am interested because it seems like a cheap alternative to a standard AK (as in a Vector).  I probably wouldn't change anything on it, but I like the ability to mod my stuff. I like a little personalization when it comes to weapons especially.

That thing would be awesome if they offered a SIG type folding stock.

Finish is good (not parkerized). FSB does not appear to have any cant issue. The handguards are not shielded. The are a 2-pc. unit. The come off similar to that of the AR. There is a sleeve behind the FSB that helps secure the hanguards. You release the locking pin, slide the sleeve forward, and remove the handguards. Standard hanguards will not work. I am not sure if a standard gas tube would fit, but since you can't use standard handguards, you would have no use for the gas tube. The stock is solid. It  mounts just like  any other AK stock. The pistol grip is okay. I actually prefer the SAW grip myself. This would be a great AK to convert to a SBR. Maybe one day, who knows.

Mine is supposed to have shipped yesterday.  I will try to do a detailed first impressions review time permitting.  It is a bit cold to hit the range, but maybe it will warm up next week.

5.56 or 7.62? What part of the state are you in?

7.62.  They did not have the 5.56 models yet, but if I like this one I will take an STG-2003 as well.  I am in SW Missouri.  It will transfer in through 417 Guns.
