Anyone have any experience with one of these from IO Inc?  I am looking for another AK variant/style rifle in 7.62, and this seems cool.  I see that Atlantic sells them.

Thanks

O.K., I must have missed a bad review.  Lack of response means No Good?

It's pretty much a Romanian WASR AK in sheep's clothing. As WASRs Romy AKs go, they are either hit or miss. I know people that have had them for years and never had a problem with them. I know people that have bought them new and never could get a full mag to cycle.

I'd say its about 50/50 on if you get a good one or not, the quality control is not very high with these builds. The biggest problems are canted/off-center gas tubes and poorly-machined magazine wells.

Here is my outlook. If you pay $279.00 for an AK, you are getting $279.00 worth of AK - if you get my drift. I'd feel more comfortable going with a Lancaster or Sierra myself. Even a cheaper Yugo build would be a better bet. It's more money, but the quality control is much better for the most part.

We have sold approx 155 of the rifles and only had one issue , they are not a WASR and have been several steps better than the Century units.

So, you are saying that these are not Romanian then?

I "HAD" one - it shot well (all AK's shoot - some more accurate than others about theonly good thing I could say about the STG-2000 is it was pretty accurate)  but was a POS compared to the fit and finish of other AK's  - I got rid of it ASAP and went and bought a Global Trades / Armory USA AK - unbelievable difference in the fit and finish.  .

When I read all the good reviews, press and comments about how good these are I just laugh.

Mine was decent in fit and finish, but would not run Norinco ammo.

I'd rather have a WASR...and do!

Proprietary hand guards limit your options.

Short sight radius made iron sights use difficult.

Scope rail was in-spec and worked fine with russian optics and mounts.

Cheap plastic stock sounded hollow (like some Ar's) and was not that comfy.

I loved the pistol grip.
