Looks like Im going to use the brake out of a 74 kit can someone tell me what size to drill it out to?

Went out and shot it like this before I tore the ffront end apart and she shoots great

yea, those dimples are pretty deep. What are you referring to in drilling out? The comp?

ETA:

How do those threads look after removing the FS?

I once posed the same question over in the Gunsmithing Forum and was told that .030" over actual bullet diameter is considered to be the norm, so right around .341" will work (it did for me).

Are the 5.45 barrels threaded under the FSB too, or are the 7.62 barrels the only ones with the threads?

so far I believe it's only the 7.62x39 ones. I could be wrong though.

ETA: I say this b/c the 74 was always manufactured as non threaded barrel.

A 11/32 drill bit is .343 and will darn near drop right in the 74 brake probably need to go the next size up at least I'm thinking.

ETA: nictra if you could mic yours that would be helpful

Thanks

Looks OK so far but

The lower HG retainer is not matching up to the gas tube very well something is going to need dremaled . Locks in place right with out the gas tube on but the top of the retainer hits with it on. Looks like the retainer cuts are canted but thats the Russians fault

well I thought my Arsenal one was for .30 cal b/c I thought that's how they made them all, but it mics the same as my Bulgy 74 @ 0.330. My other brake (kvar bird cage style) mics at 0.380, and my 4 piece mics @ 0.390. So a bit of variance there.

As nice as that is looking, it would be a shame to not weld up those holes and leave the importer marking abortion on there. I'll be patiently waiting to see the pics when you get done with it
