I saw this somewhere on AFCOM:

SKS Mount

At first I thought it would be cool.  I put a scope on top of my SKS where this would sit, to check it out, and there was absolutely no cheek weld.  Still looks ok for a red dot, but my SKS will stay plain in the jungle stock, I guess.

Yeah, SKS were never meant to have optics on them. I ran into this problem when I modified one of my four Norincos and put a scout scope on it. I built the rifle in such a way that I could (theoretically) use the scope or the iron sights without removing one or the other. In reality, a simple $10 cheek riser was needed to allow for effective use of the scope, but then you can't use the iron sights with the cheek riser on. I finally just gave up and left the riser in place and took off the rear sight aperture to use on another gun, but I went through a lot of time and effort trying to make the darn thing work how I had intended before hand.

The Choate mount is the best mount for the SKS, yes you have to drill and tap but well worth it......
