I have a little problem with my scope rail.  I have a sar1 with the scope mount on the left side.  I bought a slide on scope rail that has a tension lever on the side.  It fights nice and stays tight but the rail is tilted backwards.  At 100 feet the poi is about 14 inches lower than the point of aim with the elevation control on the scope pushed all the way to the max.  I'm guessing this is due to the century monkey assembly procedure.  I thought initially it may be that I had the scope tightened down to tight and had torqued it back but I pulled the top half of the rings off and used a couple pieces of duct tape to hold the scope in place while I tested it but  it was still way off.

If I turn the rail upside down and put a level on the mounting part of it it seems to be level.

What can I do?

yup...blind chimpanzees at work...again!

i don't know which scope mount you used, but i'm assuming it is a weaver rail type. you can buy adjustable height rings from midway that fit the weaver rails. or, you can use the burris pos-align offset insert kit.

I have the same problem with my SAR 1, at 100 yards I was hitting 40" high from point of aim.  I wanted to mount a red dot that I picked up at Bass Pro Shops.  It is a nice scope, But I found that with the integral mount it was impossible to adjust.

I ended up getting another red dot with separate mounts and I then shimmed the forward mount with a piece of rubber inner tube to get it level with the barrel bore.

It looks a little weird but it shoots to POA now.

Robarm sells a VEPR mount with some height adjustability in the bracket, worth looking at to see if it is enough to really help. My SAR2 bracket shot loose, so I had a smith weld the sucker for good and park the whole gun. If you go this route (mayebe ORFs 'blark' treatment) it can be in any position you wish.
