Anyone know where to get one of these?  I knew I should have gotten one a couple of months ago, now I can't find one at all.  Thanks

This guy has them. Long wait though since hes in russia. The only ones listed are with a handguard set, so you'll have to just watch for a new listing or email him.

I'd think twice about ordering from him; I've heard from folks recently who have been waiting a year or more for their parts to show up.  Better to wait until KVAR gets some more in stock, or keep an eye out on the EE.

Will these fit an AK-47?

as opposed to the -74 as advertised.

I'm planning having a build done, probably on an FEG AK-47 type.

the stamped 47 receiver is dimensionally the same, so yes it will work.

here's my 7.62 (ak103) and my 5.56 (ak101) with the side folder (although the polymer butt)

I just got one of those from K-var not even a month ago.  Went to their website and it's not there.  Maybe if you call them....

I'm considering ordering from Ruseller.  This is future project so I can stand a wait.  I have too many other ongoing projects anyway.  Looks like he's selling the skeletal folders and the polymer folder stocks at about the same price.

Is one recommended over the other? Why?

I'm almost ready to press the button on ordering one of these plastic side folder sets from ruseller:

My goal is to have built a quality AK in 7.62X39 as a "user" pratical carbine (i.e. it won't be "historical" or set up as a range gun).  So now I want a quality kit to go with this folding stock.  Which?  I have a Polish (underfolder) kit that I just got from Dan's.  It's in pristeen shape.  Is that a good one?  Would it work with the side folding stock?  I was looking at the FEG SA-85 from Centerfire, but the intital reviews are not that good, such that I think I prefer the Polish kit at this point.  Accuracy and quality would be the important distiguishing criteria.  I was going to have the underfolder built, but I want a better shooter, thus the side folder.  If the Polish kit would work well as the side-folder build, I'll order another one to save for an underfolder build later.  A Bulgarian kit sounds good too, but I don't know much about which or where.

Oh, I have a stamped receiver on order from Global Trades (1.0 mm).  Would that serve the side folder build?

Any help would be appreciated.

Too late.  I bought it.  A little steep but I've been hot for a side folder for years now.  I almost went for the DSA side folding stock and gear (receiver) for my IMBEL FAL build but they're like $400 and after playing with one wasn't that impressed.

I guess I'll be the Guinea Pig to see how long it takes to receive one of these.  I'll keep you all posted.

I may spring for the skeletal stock and gear after all since I see they're now listed as a new item at K-Var

Is this link above the correct AKS-74 stock?     Looks like this one is made to hook right up to a regular rear fixed stock trunnion.  (Check out the extra 2in. or so behind the receiver.)

Hmmm.  Yeah.  It does look kind of weird.  Here is the K-Var "AK-BFS STOCK, FOLDING ~(Bulgarian) AKS-74" stock:

Thats the one that replaces a fixed stock without removing your trunion.....

Is it just me or does that look like the guts could be ripped apart and installed "normally" on a receiver?

The skeleton stocks were used on the AKS74U and the AKS74, the polymer stocks were used on AK100 series and AK74M. Both of which used the 90 degree gas block or combo block/site.
If you use a Polish kit it has the 45 degree gas block and although it will work it's not accurate.
Another issue is the front trunion, which will have to be drilled for the installation of front stock retainer hook pin. Which can be done, I did it on both the rifles pictured.
So, yes it will work and work well, the authenticity will be inaccurate.
The GT receiver will work fine although it will need all the cuts needed to install the folder. (as would any available 100% receiver.)

I have little idea what you're talking about here with regard to gas block differences.  I want a 7.62X39 only.

It looks like that's just a standard skeleton side folder goosed into some kind of receiver block.  That is to say, once you install it, you'll have a NATO length stock with an extra 2" of pull on the standard stock.
