I need a pictorial reference on how the wire side folder stocks are attached to the rear part of the receiver. I have a factory Romanian AK pistol that I am going to SBR and add a side folding stock. The pistol has a 4 rivet plug basically just filling in the rear trunnion area. It is milled flat and has two rivets on each side to hold it in.

Judging from a few conversations I am having with people that have these for sale, I am not fully understanding how these stocks attach to the read of the receiver. I assumed that I would have to remove the entire pistol rear trunnion and replace it with a rifle trunnion.

Thanks for any help.

If you are putting a normal EG or Romanian wire side folder you will need a normal rifle rear tang to attach the stock to.

Here are a few pictures to show what I am dealing with. I have been told that the steel in the trunnion is very hard, so mounting something to it would not be a problem. I really like the looks and neatness of the AMD folders I saw in a different thread.

I'm sorry, I wish I knew enough about this to know what part was the tang, and is it part of the trunnion or part of the receiver?

The tang is what is commonly called the rear trunnion.  You will have to remove the receiver block you have in there and add a normal fixed stock receiver so that you can use the wire sidefolder.

The upper hole will be the only usable one when you decide to convert. The lower will need to be welded over and ground flush.

You will also have to put a new hole a little forward and down from the upper rear hole for the second rivet on the rifle trunnion. Not a hard conversion but I would suggest finding someone in your area who knows how to mount it and you will be fine.

NO doubt on that point!

Thanks for the help.
