I bought an Ohio Ordnance 5.45 receiver before the ban expired, and never built anything on it. Now, I'm thinking of a sidefolding Krink (Bulgie, w/ triangle stock). Can I use this receiver, or do I have to buy a special receiver cut for the sidefolder? If I need a different receiver, who makes those?

If I can use my existing receiver (I'm not building this myself, and am still shopping for a builder), can most builders modify the receiver, or is this 'special' (i.e. expensive) work?

I asked a similar question for my SLR105 with stamped receiver and thanks to the AK members here my understanding is that getting a triangle side folder to work may be more trouble than it's worth. I believe you will need to have cuts made in the receiver for it to fit and work properly.

From what I understand a Romy side folder will work without modification, but the triangle folders require changes to the receiver.

Thats why I ended up going with a Romy, which hopefully is waiting for me in the mail today.

The ITM receiver is fine for building up any rifle including a krink, it will have to be modified but for any AK smith its a snap. If you were to build it youself I would send ya over to pookies site as he has the templates for the cuts and holes on his site, but the fact that your going with a professional build it doesnt matter. NDS has a new receiver thats already cut for the folder and IMO i say sell the ITM receiver and use NDS's as its a cosmetically correct receiver over the ITM. The dimple is proper to the bulgarian design as well as many other features. One other thing is that Ohio ordnance's ITM has that big ugly logo on the side and NDS's markings are all on the bottom in front of the mag well. It's a no brainer.

most builders will cut the necessary holes for you. should not be too hard b/c the reciever is not heat treated back there

i remember something about the very early OOW 5.45 recievers being built with 7.62 ejector rails, which was a problem. might want to check that out

Prints come w/ the sidefolder stock and a sidegrinder w/ cutoff wheel works great.
I won't bore everybody w/ the same old pic of mine.

a drill press, some needle files, and a dremmel will get you where you need to be. But for a first timer I think you are better off getting a DCI NDS as mentioned before.
