According to the below linked operating manual, the numbers on the rear sight indicate meters. However, my newly bought post-ban Century Arms SAR-1 is numbered 1-10. Is this how they are all numbered? Sighting up to 10 meters doesn't seem like a very high maximum distance. I read somewhere these guns have a much higher effective range. Am I mistaken about what the Operating Manual says or am I just supposed to compensate after 10 meters? http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/AK47USArmyOperatorManual.pdf |

1 = 100 meters 10 = 1000 meters To sight an AK, check this link ... www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/sightin.htm |
Those are meters? I thought they were miles! I am reminded of the guitarist on Spinal Tap, whose volume knob went to '11'...From what I've read, the effective range of an AK is 300 meters. The '10' setting is optimistic. I know the rear sights on VEPRs are only graduated out to 300 meters, or '3' on the sight. |
