ok, I have a vepr-k that I really like the look and feel of, but I absolutely hate the sights. I really like the ar style sights and shoot well with them, but I dont shoot my ak much at all b/c of the sights. I always get in my mind that I want to sell it for a fal or something else, but then I go get it out of the safe and it just feels so damn good. So what are my options. I dont make it over here to the ak section much and I'm sure this has been covered so a link to a thread or sharing your experiences would be appreciated. Thanks |

Note sure if they are any good but here you go: www.mojosights.com/ |
Mojo sights rock 9 kinds of ass. You can put smaller or larger apertures in them depending on what you feel more comfortable with. A real + in the sight department. |
The sights on the AK were initially a problem for me also. The rear sights are just too narrow and mounted too far forward even for peep sights in my opnion. You can add/buy a rear sight cover(link) with a peek sight installed, but you may have to raise the front sight plane to match. I decided not to screw around with the top cover peek sights, new front sights, mojo rear sights/etc.etc and spent my money on a ultimak forward scope mount and an Aimpoint clone red dot scope. The gun is fast handling and accurate. I can shoot with both eyes open. Another positive is that the weight up front is a better balance and it even lessens recoil. The Ultimak with a red dot works great for me so far and in my opinion more bang for the bucks spent.

I have thought of a gas-tube rail and a red-dot myself, but seems like that would make the weapon front heavy. I'd like a better sight option as well, but for now what I've got seems to work ok. That mojo sight looks encouraging, but if you need a screwdriver to adjust it I'm not sure if I like it. |

dude it's an AK not an AR why anyone would ever cobb up an AK like that is beyond me. The simplicity of design is what makes them what they are. Learn to use the design and keep it simple like it was intended to be. Enjoy the weapon for what it is and do not try to make it into something that it is not. |
