Someone explain the single hook vs double hook trigger thing to me. What determines which one comes in your rifle? Is the RSA trigger a single or a double?

double hook triggers came in ak-47's and chinese akm's.

when the stamped akm was introduced in 1959 with its' hammerfall delaying device, room was needed to fit that mechanism into the receiver.

the right side hook was deleted and and its' space given over to the hammer delaying mechanism.

in reality, the quality and geometry of the trigger determine how it feels and operates more than the number of hammer catching hooks are on the rig.

all kalashnikovs since 1959 (with the exception of the a few variants that did not follow the russian/warsaw pact pattern) have been single hook designs.

the rsa fire control group utilzes a single hook type trigger.
