OK have some patience here (please) because I'm a n00b and this is my first firearm.  he
To remove the existing muzzle nut I need to rotate it counterclockwise or clockwise?

Secondly at the base of the front site post where it meets up with the muzzle net there is what looks like a small gray pin.  If I push on that pin it appears to recess back into the front site post and then pop back out when I release pressure.  Do I need to push that in to "unlock" the muzzle nut so it will unscrew?

Thanks.

Push the pin in and turn clockwise to remove the nut.

What the hell?

This won't work.  I bought this:

If you look at the picture the little hole where the peg is supposed to fit is not directly centered on this thing.  So when I screw it on it's off to one side.

I don't understand what I did wrong here.  Did I flush $13 down the toilet?  It screws on OK and the threads are fine but it doesn't go on centered.

Can you guys see what I'm talking about?  The muzzle nut the rifle came with isn't like this.

It's supposed to be like that.

In full auto fire the AK rises up and to the right (?) The slant brake set at that correct angle conteracts the rise.  It is supposed to be like that.

I also sell slant brakes and have been asked MANY times why it isnt centered. My response is its not supposed to be

when the bolt reciprocates its mass is offset to one side, the slant brake is offset to counter this

Gentlemen I appreciate the explanations.  The brake being offset like that would seem at first to be counter intuitive.  Furthermore most of the pictures I've seen of AKs for sale with this sort of brake installed don't have a close enough picture to see that it's offset like that.  Thusly newbs such as myself get confused.

You may be real new but you're not dumb picking a milled Arsenal for your first AK.
Here is my Arsenal:

I had a large poster made for a client with a picture of their AK on it - the guy at the printing shop said, "it would have been a really nice poster had you not cut the end of the barrel off..."

I'm not sure if he was talking about my photoshop skills - (or the lack thereof) of the machining - we didn't really discuss it further.  I just nodded and walked away.

As it was said before - very nice job picking up the Arsenal. -
